Anglo-American Chickens and Things.
So, I have decided, thanks to my friend Amy, that we need to start a chicken website, not just about our chickens but also some of the chicken related products that we make and sell.
We started with chickens 3 years ago so that we could produce our own eggs, as we were unhappy with the egg recalls that were happening. Our initial start was 5 Barred Rock chicks we purchased from a lady in Monroe. We raised them until big enough to go outside last summer.
Then the building started outside for the coop and run for our little feathered friends. Since then everything has expanded. Our egg laying flock is doing well, some losses but additions to make up for them. The Partridge Silkies are a small group, hoping they will increase egg laying so I can hatch out them too.
The last addition was the Swedish Flower Hens. They have been more difficult thatn I expected but at long last I have a quad of birds now breeding and laying. I am hoping this year will be a good breeding year to add more hens to the flock. Maybe 2 more hens...
